But before you have your treatment, check out these really common questions:
How many treatments might I need in general?
This is perhaps the most obvious question the practitioner is asked. There are a few ways to answer this and it depends on what is being treated as well as the level of wellbeing the client wants to experience. SO if someone is happy with 50% improvement then they will need less treatments compared to someone who will be aiming for 100% improvement.
Also, something mild like a small muscle spasm may take 1 or 2 short treatments where as scoliosis my require on-going treatments. During massage, our therapists at our Newtown center, will talk to you about the recommended number of treatments for you. Another important factor is how long you have had a problem. If you have a lot of tension, tightness and knots in your muscles, or have suffered from lower back pain for years, then you’ll benefit form more treatments compared to a ache that began one week ago.
The massage offered in our Newtown includes a quick chat about any treatment plan that might benefit you and how many treatments and the duration of these treatments.
What’s the ideal time for massage therapy?
Although this is sometimes determined by someone’s schedule and commitments, we do suggest when possible, that you select a time for your treatments carefully in order that you enjoy maximum benefit.
Rushing to a treatment straight after a busy day at work, may not be optimal. You’ll arrive in a more tense condition and it will take longer for your body and mind to settle and for the sympathetic nervous system to ‘settle down’. Now this has to be balanced with the reality of life and sometimes there seems to be little choice – it’s either straight after a busy stressful day at work, or not at all! And you know what? It’s totally ok! If that is what you can manage then so be it. You will still definitely benefit and we totally understand.
Same can be said after eating a heavy meal – ideally a treatment 30-60 mins after a meal would be ideal if possible.
We recommend our clients choose a time that will optimise the positive effects of the treatment, as best they can. Sometimes it takes making a treatment well in advance or on their day off, so they can simply relax after the treatment and ‘make the most of it’ that way.
But remember, our practitioners at our Newtown massage therapy centre totally understand that finding the ideal time is sometime difficult or next to impossible – and that is ok! We will certainly give you the best possible treatment and if you would like a treatment, say on your days off from work for example, then we can always book another treatment ahead of time for that.
